I’m a bad, bad blogger

I meant to write last night, as soon as I finished watching American Idol. Unfortunately, I have a one year old who is not quite well, and I just didn’t get the chance. So, bad blogger– good Mommy. I can live with that.
Here are my thoughts on last night. I think Paris is really great, but I am so bored with her choices of songs. Help me out, here, girl. Pick a better song.
I really like Lisa, as well. As a matter of fact, there really aren’t any girls left that I just can’t wait to see gone. But Lisa does this kind of odd thing with her eyebrow that bothers me, and I found last night’s performance to be (as Simon would say) rather average and, well, a little boring.
I really liked Melissa’s performance. No, she’s probably not the absolute best singer, but it was entertaining.
I’m afraid I have to agree with Simon. I think Kinnik will be going home tomorrow night. She seems like a sweet person. But all of her performances are just somewhat forgettable. And last night’s was only memorable because it was the worst performance of the night.
So, that brings us to one of the highlights of the evening– Katharine McPhee. I think she’s great! I don’t think she’ll win, but I think she has a real shot at a long-term career. Perhaps she’ll follow in the footsteps of Diana DeGarmo and head for Broadway after her stint on American Idol is up. Last night, she was solid, as usual– and not at all boring, which was saying something last night.
Ayla’s performance was panned by the judges, for the most part. Randy said she picked a song that had only five notes. I don’t care. It was interesting. It was a good performance. It was fun. It was different. I didn’t know the song only had five notes. Did you? I dare say most Idol viewers are far more interested in the performance than the composition of the song. It was not a “bring down the house” performance, but it was good.
They really did save the best for last.
Mandisa. She is just fabulous. Last night’s “I’m Every Woman” was terrific! I think Mandisa is so beautiful. She has an inner beauty that radiates from within. It just makes me feel happy to watch her sing. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s really good.
And then sweet, sweet Kellie Pickler. I just want to pinch her cheeks. When she talks about “calamari” or thinks Simon’s calling her a “mink”, it’s just so endearing. Last night’s performance was a little more saucy and a little less sweet, but it was still really good. I liked Kellie in the auditions, but I was concerned she was going to be one of those performers who never really did any better than their audition– that she would be cute and sweet and I’d hate to see her go, but that she really wouldn’t be American Idol material. I have been proved so wrong! I’ll be really surprised if she’s not in at least the final 6. I still don’t know that she’ll win. But sometimes things get weird down the Idol road and people that you think are shoo-ins somehow fizzle, only to get passed by someone who was just on the peripheral. So, Kellie may well be the next American Idol. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I’ll try to be better about posting after tonight’s guys’ performance. I do think the guys, as a whole, are stronger than the girls. Looking forward to tonight. Hope you all are, too.

I have been voting every week for Mandisa. Her voice is extremely powerful and her talent is totally amazing! I am hoping for her to win!
