The Season 8 American Idol Winner is…
Kris Allen!
Well, just as I predicted (I don’t usually get these right), Kris Allen won the 2009 edition of American Idol.
I think that a combination of Kris Allen fans and Adam Lambert haters put Kris over the top. I am not sure Kris could have won if it weren’t for the fact that there are about as many people who absolutely HATE Adam as there are who like him. That actually should mean really good things for Adam’s music career.
This was the first year that I can remember not caring who won. Every year prior to this year I had a clear cut favorite, but this year I thought both finalists were good singers and neither of them really moved me like some of the past contestants.
So what do you think? Should Kris Allen have won or was Adam Lambert ripped off?
But seriously, I think that Adam should have won. When Seacrest said “Kris Allen” my face looked like Kris’s. I was so shocked, Adam should have won. But it came down to the all American, gool old boy from the south and the city-boy rocker.
I’m in Canada, and very few people are so predujusted, I’m not a die-hard fan, but I do think that Adam should have won because his style and theatrics were never overboard and he’s a real precence. When he’s on the stage it’s like a personality, Kris just stands still with his guitar. Adam is, like, dancing and interacting, Kris smiles at the crowd. Adam can hit notes that I have never heard before, Kris plays it safe and stayed in a much lower range the whole season.
I think the risks he took and just the simple fact that he is a real performer should have won him the title. Both of them had lows; Adam’s were a stark difference from the rest of his season, but those lows were some people’s best. Kris was pretty strimelined and consistant the whole season. Adam’s highs were much, much higher than Kris’s highs, but his lows stood out and you could just tell that he was having an off night, I think that combined with his unusual style and theatrics, the fact that he’s gay, and the Christen population worked against him unfairly. Lost him the title, that’s because of who he is.
I don’t care what people say about how Kris is hot and Adam is a fag, and they say that like it should be obvious that Adam should loose becuase of that. Just because Kris is “hot” doesn’t mean that he should become American Idol, nor does it mean that he deserves to loose. Same with Adam. People judged everyone based on what they saw, rather on the actual performences and their singing. Adam can really sing – if you think that he can only scream, listen to “Tracks of My Tears” – Kris can sing too, but Adam is a better performer and can sing circles around him. Adam can sing the phonebook and make it sound good.
