One thing about American Idol—at least the judges don’t discriminate about who they make fun of. In the recent Seattle auditions, one contestant Jonathan Jaynes (you may remember him as being friends with the “bush baby”) is a former Special Olympics athlete. Did he receive special treatment or a pass from criticism or airtime? No way. Of course, I do think the judges were a bit kinder than usual, but not enough that you could really notice.
Jaynes is taking the whole thing in stride, and people from across the country have expressed support. Jaynes even got an opportunity to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
